Healing Trauma through Yoga practices.

Why practice Yoga?

The research behind the practice.

As a new participant to Yoga in 2017, I began to realize how the practice benefited my clarity of mind. I discovered that I was better able to manage my thoughts and emotions due to the increased calmness in my body. I wanted to help my clients achieve this same sense of clarity and calmness which led me to the research of David Emerson, the founder of Trauma Center Trauma Sensitive Yoga, (TC-TSY). I was also drawn to the work of Joyce Bosen's, founder of Trauma Recovery Yoga (T.R.Y). Many trauma researchers agree that the body contains memory, and specifically stores traumatic experiences. We might struggle with a sense of safety in our own bodies as a survivor of trauma. Yoga can help us to increase our sense of safety and bring about feelings of self-empowerment from within.

You have choices.

With trauma sensitive yoga, you are in charge . Yoga exercises in therapy sessions at Clarity Counseling Center are often completed while seated.

As with all therapeutic activities, you decide what you'd like to explore on your healing journey.

Because I know therapy can be an uncomfortable journey at times, you have my assurance that we will walk side-by-side and at your own pace.
